Early Life and Education:
Born in Islamabad, Pakistan, Dr. Qureshi's fascination
with aviation was influenced by her father, Masood Latif
Qureshi, a notable physicist and scientist. She earned her
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National
University of Sciences & Technology (NUST) in Pakistan. Pursuing
her passion for aerospace, she obtained a Master's degree in Aerospace
Dynamics and a Ph.D. in Aerospace Propulsion from Cranfield University
in the United Kingdom.
Professional Achievements:
-
Aero Engine Craft: In collaboration with her father, Dr. Qureshi co-founded Aero Engine Craft, where she serves as the Chief Executive Officer. The company focuses on developing contrail-free aero-engines aimed at reducing aviation-induced environmental impacts.
-
Innovative Jet Engine Design: During her doctoral research, Dr. Qureshi
conceptualized a jet engine equipped with a unique pressure-based condensation
system. This technology cools water vapor in aircraft exhaust, preventing contrail
formation and allowing controlled water release, potentially as rain. The design
has secured two international patents and is undergoing further development for commercial application.
Accolades and Recognition:
-
Tamgha-i-Imtiaz: In 2024, Dr. Qureshi was honored with the Tamgha-i-Imtiaz, one of Pakistan's highest civilian awards, acknowledging her contributions to science and environmental sustainability.
-
Study UK Alumni Awards: She was a finalist in the Study UK Alumni Awards, reflecting her impactful work in aerospace engineering and innovation.
Advocacy and Impact:
- Beyond her technical achievements, Dr. Qureshi is a vocal advocate for women in STEM fields, inspiring the next generation of female engineers and scientists in Pakistan and globally.
