Having worked on testing and commissioning procedures for MV/LV electrical systems across multiple data center and industrial projects in Saudi Arabia, I've noticed that many young engineers struggle not because they lack technical knowledge, but because they've never been exposed to a structured, real-world T&C procedure before stepping onto site.
Idea: PEC could create an open-access repository of standardized Testing & Commissioning procedure templates — covering pre-commissioning checks, IR/PI testing, primary/secondary injection testing, transformer testing, protection relay testing, and final energization checklists — mapped to international standards (NETA, IEC, IEEE).
This wouldn't just be documentation; it would be a practical bridge between classroom power systems theory and actual field execution. New engineers could study real commissioning workflows before their first site assignment, senior engineers could contribute lessons learned and refine procedures collaboratively, and Pakistani engineers would build a stronger, more standardized skill set — making them more competitive for commissioning roles in the Gulf and internationally.
A small step like this could meaningfully raise the technical readiness of graduating engineers entering testing and commissioning careers.
