Integrating Process Safety into Chemical & Process Design

Asked by Abdul Rafay 10 pts • 25 days ago • Category: • 68 Views
As a Chemical Engineer working in process design and engineering consultancy, I have gained practical exposure to PFDs, P&IDs, equipment datasheets, line sizing, pump hydraulics, and heat exchanger rating. I am also developing an interest in HSE and Process Safety, particularly in understanding how safety considerations are incorporated into engineering design from the early stages. I would like to learn from experienced engineers: How are HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, risk assessment, fire protection, and other process safety practices practically integrated into process design projects? For engineers starting their careers, what Process Safety/HSE knowledge and skills would you recommend developing alongside core process engineering skills? I would appreciate insights, practical experiences, and learning resources from fellow engineers.
