Engr. Ashraf Habibullah pioneered desktop finite-element analysis for structural engineering, reshaping global design practice. A NED University (1969) and UC Berkeley (1970) alumnus, he founded CSI in 1975; flagship programs like SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, CSiBridge, and PERFORM-3D now serve engineers in over 180 countries.

Landmark Achievements:

  • Pioneered finite-element software—SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, CSiBridge, PERFORM-3D—adopted in 180+ countries.
  • Named to the U.S. National Academy of Engineering (2024) for seismic-analysis innovation.
  • Recipient of ASCE George Winter Award, SEAONC H. J. Brunnier Lifetime Achievement, and ACI Charles S. Whitney Medal.
  • Founded Engineers Alliance for the Arts; supports Diablo Ballet and UC Berkeley’s CEE Academy of Distinguished Alumni.
