Identified and Tracked Emerging contaminants (ECs) in marine sediments using Non-Target Screening (NTS), identifying their sources. Quantified Ship Coating-Related Contaminants in semi-enclosed bay sediments through NTS and targeted analyses, addressing pollutant load and their effect on Marine Organisms. Investigated Historical Sediment Samples to understand pollutant deposition patterns and degradation processes over three hundred years. Assessed Toxicity of Ship Coating Additives using Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationship (QSAR) tools, predicting environmental impacts and risks. Developed High-Throughput Screening Methods for complex environmental mixtures using 2D Liquid Chromatography coupled with High-Resolution Mass Spectrometry (2D LC-MS). Conducted In-Depth Analysis of Port Sediments from highly industrialized areas, employing both qualitative and quantitative NTS to monitor pollutant levels. Pioneered PFAS Detection Methods using ultrasonication extraction combined with Mass Spectrometry (cIMS-MS), advancing the identification of these persistent contaminants. Collaborated on deciphering natural and anthropogenic sources of sediment organic matter, using direct infusion with Fourier Transform Ion Cyclotron Resonance Mass Spectrometry (DI-FTICR MS). Managed the operation and maintenance of key laboratory instruments, including UPLCs, HPLCs, Cyclic IM-MS, FT-ICR-MS, and Xevo TQ MS ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and data accuracy. Led a team of instrument managers; trained junior MS and PhD students in laboratory protocols and equipment usage. Developed protocols and systems to ensure efficient and safe operations for all lab members.
Synthesized Nimesulide derivatives with thiazole-2-imine and chromene-oxadiazole conjugates to enhance the biological activities of Nimesulide. Characterized the synthesized compounds using FT-IR, NMR, and UV spectroscopy to confirm their structure and functional groups. Assessed the antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-cancer activities of the synthesized hybrids, evaluating their potential as therapeutic agents.
